Summary

Women undergraduate students are invited to a FREE Panel Session — CFA Society Boston’s Women in Investment Management: Choosing a Career in Investment Management.

Students will have the opportunity to:
  • Celebrate CFA Society Boston’s inaugural group of undergraduate women participating in summer internships with four leading investment management firms
  • Listen to accomplished women professionals talk about their career choices and investment management experience
  • Meet alumni from these firms, participating schools and our host, Babson College
  • Explore why and how you might consider an investment management career

Bios:

Jeanne W. Wolf, CAE

Jeanne joined CFA Society Boston as Executive Director in 2010 and is responsible for the strategy, operations and staff management for the organization. She oversees the Board of Directors, and is the staff liaison to the CFA Institute.

Prior to this role, she was the Executive Director for the Real Estate Finance Association (REFA Boston) and the Building Owners and Managers Association Boston (BOMA Boston) at the Greater Boston Real Estate Board. While at REFA and BOMA, Jeanne ran the day-to-day operations for two local trade organizations representing over 1,200 members in the commercial real estate profession in Greater Boston. She began her career in association management in Washington, DC working for the National Association of Truckstop Operators (NATSO).

Jeanne received her BA in Political Science and English from Marquette University and received the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE). She is the past Board Chair of the New England Society of Association Executives and serves on the fundraising and event committees for the Somerville Homeless Coalition. Jeanne resides in Somerville with her husband and two sons and spends her (very limited) free time running, skiing and being a soccer mom.


Andrea DiCenso

Andrea DiCenso is a vice president of Loomis, Sayles & Company and co-portfolio manager for the credit asset and world credit asset strategies. She is also a senior strategist for the alpha strategies group and oversees all FX and commodity activity for the firm's multi-asset product suite, and is primarily responsible for asset allocation, idea generation, portfolio construction and risk management. Since 2009, Andrea has been a strategist within the alpha strategies group, implementing emerging market and commodity related themes within the long-only and multi-asset products at the firm. She joined Loomis Sayles in 2006 as a junior analyst covering the investment grade and high yield commodity related sectors. She began her investment industry career in 2003 at Fidelity Investments as a financial analyst. Andrea earned a BS in finance from Bentley College and an MBA from Northeastern University.


Catherine McDermott

Cathy McDermott has lived and worked in Boston, Massachusetts for the past 20 years. Prior to moving to Boston with her young family, she spent 10 years building her career and enjoying all life has to offer in New York City. She is currently a Vice President, Portfolio Manager, and Senior Analyst at Eaton Vance Management, which she joined in 2000. She is part of the floating-rate loan team, where she is responsible for buy and sell decisions, portfolio construction, and risk management for the firm's floatingrate loan strategies. She also maintains analyst responsibilities, primarily in the automotive, gaming, and packaging sectors. Prior to Eaton Vance, Cathy was a Principal at Cypress Tree Investment Management in Boston and a Vice President of Corporate Underwriting and Research at Financial Security Assurance Inc. in NYC. She began her career in the investment management industry at Manufacturers Hanover Trust in 1987 after graduating Summa Cum Laude from Boston College.

Cathy grew up in San Rafael, California, where she was raised in a household with lots of exposure to music. She played the violin and attended San Domenico High School on a music scholarship. Her appreciation for music and education influenced her decision to become a founding board member of the North End Music and Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC) in Boston when her children were young. After many years of involvement at NEMPAC, Cathy transitioned to a Partner role with Social Venture Partners Boston, engaging with philanthropic organizations at developmental inflection points throughout Boston. Most recently, she joined the Board of Trustees for Vermont Academy. When she can, Cathy loves visiting friends and family all over the U.S. and England, particularly her son, Jackson, at Syracuse University and her daughter, Caitlyn, at Oxford University.


Katherine Shaw, CFA

Katherine Shaw is a sector leader and portfolio manager in the Equity division at Fidelity Investments. Fidelity Investments is a leading provider of investment management, retirement planning, portfolio guidance, brokerage, benefits outsourcing, and other financial products and services to more than 26 million individuals, institutions, and financial intermediaries.

In this role, Ms. Shaw serves as sector leader of the Global Consumer team and is responsible for providing research coverage for the consumer discretionary sector. Additionally, she manages Fidelity Select Consumer Discretionary Portfolio, Fidelity Advisor Consumer Discretionary Fund, Fidelity VIP Consumer Discretionary Portfolio, and Fidelity Consumer Discretionary Central Fund. She also co-manages Fidelity Stock Selector All Cap Fund.

Prior to joining Fidelity in 2008, Ms. Shaw served as a private equity associate at TA Associates and as an investment banking analyst at Salomon Smith Barney. She has been in the financial industry since 2000.

Ms. Shaw earned her bachelor of arts degree in economics and government from the University of Virginia and her master of business administration degree from Harvard Business School. She is also a CFA® charterholder.
