CFA Society Boston's
Sustainable Investing Initiative

Since 2013, CFA Society Boston's Sustainable Investing Initiative has been highlighted each fall by our full-day Sustainable Investing seminar. This annual seminar has become a leading venue for exposure to innovation and best practices in this rapidly growing area of investment management.

Over the years, our scope has expanded to provide additional, shorter events throughout the year.  These events allow us to cover additional areas as the field of Sustainable Investing grows, to take a deep dive into a topic or introduce an emerging area of practice.

Collaboration with other organizations enables us to bring even more resources to CFA Boston members, and expands our audience, providing members networking opportunities with a larger and more diverse range of professionals.

There are many ways to get Involved with CFA Society Boston's Sustainable Investing Initiative.

  • CFA Society Members in good standing can volunteer to serve on the Sustainable Investing Task Force. The committee year runs from July 1 through June 31 and applications are accepted in the Spring and Summer. To learn more about this opportunity and others visit our online volunteer headquarters.
  • Have questions or looking to connect with others on sustainable investing? Visit the Sustainable Investing Community on Connect to post questions, respond and engage with society members.
  • If you have topics or suggestions on the society's sustainable investing initiative, including programming, email sustainableinvesting@cfaboston.org

The society's sustainable investing offerings have become a leading venue for exposure to innovation and best practices in this rapidly growing area of investment management. We are unable to hold a full-day in-person event in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but we are looking forward to and planning for a live event in fall 2021, conditions permitting. In the meantime, we are offering virtual Sustainable Investing programming. The programming, virtual and in-person, will result in exciting sponsorship opportunities.

Margaret Franklin, CFA

President and CEO, CFA Institute

We thank Margaret Franklin, CFA, for the video below, presented at our 7th Sustainable Investing Conference on November 13, 2019. In her message, Ms. Franklin discussed how sustainable Investing is not only an opportunity to drive the bottom line of companies and share prices for investors, it also gives us a chance to put our capital to productive use and address opportunities and challenges facing our society and the global economy.
