Barbara Kates-Garnick, Ph.D., Professor of Practice, Fletcher School of Tufts University

Barbara Kates-Garnick is currently a professor of practice at the Fletcher School of Tufts University where she specializes in addressing the energy transition and policy opportunities for Offshore Wind. She has served as Undersecretary of Energy for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and as a Commissioner of Public Utilities. She has been a Vice President at KeySpan, as an adjunct professor at the Tandon School of NYU where she developed the proposal for the New York City Accelerator for Clean and Renewable Energy (NYC ACRE).     Kates-Garnick serves on both for-profit and nonprofit boards, including Resources for the Future, Anbaric Transmission, PowerOptions, and ATAPCO, a privately held company in Baltimore . She received a Ph.D. in international political economy from the Fletcher School of Tufts University, and an A.B. from Bryn Mawr College.
