Carrie Houtman, Global Sustainability Director - Climate, Dow Inc.

Houtman is responsible for Dow’s water and biodiversity strategies as well as supporting the Company’s carbon strategy. Additionally, she leads a team of technical experts that enable Dow’s efforts on key sustainability priorities and provides strategic input for external reporting.
Formerly she was Dow's Director of Global Public Policy & Issues Management team and led an international team of professionals in the development of policy positions on matters of strategic importance. She was also responsible for leading Dow’s enterprise issues management teams, including engagement on issues with the company’s external stakeholders, providing issues-related counsel to corporate leadership. 

Carrie began her career with Dow in 1996 in technical service and development.  She has spent more than 12 years of her career in Environment, Health, Safety & Sustainability.  In addition, her 13 years in Government Affairs included federal lobbying and staffing Dow’s Chairman & CEO and other senior executives with the Obama White House, U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of Labor Task Force on Apprenticeship and the Australian Growth Centre Programme. 

A 1996 graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, Carrie is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt. She has also completed programs in Risk Analysis and Risk Communication at Harvard’s Chan School of Public Health, and in Climate Change Economics and Politics at Harvard Kennedy School.
