Value Stocks Awaken—Is the Trend for Real This Time?

After more than a decade of disappointing performance and a white-knuckle plunge last year, Value stocks have finally started to shine. Investors have been snapping up cyclical and out of favor stocks thanks to brightening news in the fight against Covid-19 and prospects for a powerful turnaround in the economy. But is this upturn a new dawn and sustainable trend for Value or a short-term bounce bound to disappoint investors again?

Join us for a discussion with GMO’s Ben Inker on why he believes the outlook for Value is still bright and how investors can profit from Value’s outperformance in both rising and falling markets. Inker has explored how “cheap” value is relative to growth by a variety of measures. He will share how those valuations combine with GMO’s 7-year asset class return forecasts to inform the firm’s strategies and what that outlook means for Value.

Speaker Bio

Ben Inker, CFA, is head of GMO’s Asset Allocation team and a member of the GMO Board of Directors. He joined GMO in 1992 following the completion of his B.A. in economics from Yale University. In his years at GMO, Inker has served as an analyst for the Quantitative Equity and Asset Allocation teams, as a portfolio manager of several equity and asset allocation portfolios, as co-head of International Quantitative Equities, and as CIO of Quantitative Developed Equities. He is a CFA charterholder.
