The Case for Inflation - A Deeper Look Beyond the Headlines

Description
“Inflation's return” is in sharp focus across the financial press and many investors’ conversations today.  The Biden Administration and Federal Reserve have sought to calm anxieties about any such destabilizing upturn in prices, but are we at a watershed moment? There is no economic playbook for a pandemic or the ensuing sea-change embrace of debt and government stimulus we’ve seen in response. What can we learn from history and the Great Financial Crisis about where inflation might be headed and just how ”different” things are this time?

Join Erik Weisman, Chief Economist for MFS Investment Management, for an in-depth look at the factors driving inflation—COVID 19’s fallout, MMT and debt monetization, de-globalization, and more. He will review of the balance of dis- and inflationary forces and share thoughts on strategies for this environment as well.
