Avoiding Losses from Securities Fraud: Lessons from History

UCLA School of Law Professor James Park will discuss his new book on the history of securities fraud regulation. The Valuation Treadmill: How Securities Fraud Threatens the Integrity of Public Companies examines case studies of major securities frauds from the 1970s to the present involving companies such as Penn Central, Apple, Enron, Citigroup, and General Electric. It identifies common methods that public corporations use to deceive investors and how the law protects investors from securities fraud. The hope is that by understanding how securities fraud works, the audience will have a better understanding of how to avoid losses from fraud. Professor Park will also discuss recent cases involving FTX, Theranos, and Nikola.

Join CFA Society Boston as we host James Park, UCLA School of Law Professor, on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at our building's amenity space. This program will include food, beverages, and networking. Register today!

Registration closes Monday, June 5.
